Rain alerts in Pakistan
From August 1 to 6, Rain Expected in Most Parts of the Country, Risk of Flooding in Northern Areas
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast thunderstorms with rain in most parts of the country from August 1 to 6.
According to the NDMA advisory, heavy rains may cause flooding in Murree, Galliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, and Shangla.
The NDMA also warned of potential flooding in Buner, Bannu, Kurram, Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, and Orakzai. Flooding conditions might also arise in Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Suleiman Range, and Kirthar Range.
The advisory further mentioned that torrential rain could lead to a rise in water levels in rivers and streams, while there is a risk of landslides in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The NDMA has instructed provincial disaster management authorities and other relevant institutions to remain on alert, ensuring the availability of necessary machinery and administrative staff. The administration should inform residents near rivers and streams about the potential rise in water flow.
Additionally, the NDMA advisory advised citizens to stay away from electrical poles and weak structures during rain.
